JP Cooper is the soulful alt-rock singer songwriter talent hailing from Manchester. He is signed to Island Records.
In 2016 he released the single ‘Five More Days’ featuring vocals from Avelino. Additionally, in 2016 he featured on the track ‘Perfect Strangers’ by Jonas Blue which has since been certified Platinum in the UK. It has over 900 million streams on Spotify. His 2017 follow-up song ‘September Song’ was very well received with over 500 million streams on Spotify. It is off the album ‘Raised Under Grey Skies’ and peaked at number 7 on the UK singles chart.
In January of 2018 he featured on Craig David’s seventh studio album ‘The Time is Now’ on the track ‘Get Involved’. The following Summer in 2019, he collaborated with the female artists Gabrielle Aplin and Stefflon Don.
He says on his ‘She’ album (2022) “most of the big moments or opportunities to learn in my life have been bought around by women. My mum dying when I was young, to having four sisters who took that place and challenged me. To getting into relationships, one of which with the mother of my eldest son and that falling apart, and trying to navigate co-parenting. To now of course meeting my wife, getting married, and having kids with her – my greatest teachers have been women. Even though that’s not what this album is about completely, that felt like the overarching theme, hence the name ‘She’.”
